Shearing test of Tribal youth selected under 𝗖𝗦𝗦 - 𝗦𝗖𝗔 𝗧𝗼 𝗧𝗦𝗦  was today held at DSHO office, Bandipora. The trainees showed a lot of promise  &  hopefully in days to come with the support of the Department they will  become self-employed & boost   their livelihood. There are 65 million sheep in India according to the 19th Livestock Census. Presently 80% of the sheep population is shorn by hand scissors. The activity is highly popular among the sheep farmer's of the valley & during peak season there is a huge demand.

Success Story of Mr. Showkat Ahmad Teli  Like any other person with no formal education in rural household, Showkat Ahmad Teli S/o Ghulam Qadir Teli R/o Telwanpora (Trigam)  continued the traditional farming and carpet weaving as his career.
